4K Monitors Getting More and More Popular As Computer Monitors
The popularity and demand for the 4K monitors has been on a constant rise thanks to the steady drop in their prices. These monitors today are available for a price of less than $500 and in fact, in some places, certain variants of these monitors are available for an even lesser price.
4K Monitors Better For Computers Than For TVs
If the sale of these monitors is closely watched, one realizes that most of these monitors are being sold for computer and not for televisions. This is mainly to do with the lack of compatible content. Since the available content on television and gaming consoles which is compatible with these monitors is limited, hence there are very few takers for these monitors in the television segment. But in the case of computers it is just the opposite.
Almost all the operating systems which support the computer today are able to generate an output which is of a resolution higher than 1080p. This means that the 4K monitors just need to be plugged into a computer and they will be ready to use. By attaching these monitors to the present computers, the display resolution can be improved to 3840*2160. Of course, there is a limitation to this. The graphic card of the computer system should be able to support this high resolution.
4K Desktop Experience
The enhanced picture quality experience which can be gained from the use of a 4K as the desktop monitor is directly related to the size of the display screen and also on how well the computer’s existing operating system deals with it. Bigger display will provide a better experience than a small screen. The content on a small screen will be compressed and presented in such a small font that it would be barely readable. As the size of the screen increases the desktop web pages will appear in larger fonts making it easier to read. As the size of the 4K increases, this experience also goes on getting better and better.
At the end of the day, the utility of the 4K monitors will depend on the applications you are using on them and whether those applications have been optimized for the 4K display or not. If the applications being used are not optimized for 4K usage, then the entire effort of replacing your current monitor with a 4K monitor will just go waste.
There are many new inventions in this segment, which have been lined up for release soon. To stay in the market, these monitors will have to offer some better services.
